Certifications: BLS certification Must-Have: Med/Surg Experience,
ability to prioritize care, multitask, start IVs, basic wound care,
maintenance of surgical drains, nasogastric tubes, and chest tubes.
Description: The position involves providing nursing care in a
medical-surgical setting. The unit has 20 beds with a patient ratio
of 6:1. Tech support is available on both day and night shifts.
Unit secretarial support is provided during day hours. The
equipment used includes IV pumps, telemetry devices, SCDs,
continuous pulse ox machines, feeding pumps, PCAs, EKG machines,
and bladder scanners. The documentation system in use is Meditech.
Candidates are expected to work 3 twelve-hour shifts per week and 2
weekends per 4-week schedule. Floating policies indicate that
contract labor is the first to float, with rotation for other
staff. Nurses are required to deliver attentive and compassionate
care to patients and their families. Bedside shift report will be
conducted, and personal connections with patients and families
should be a priority in care plans. The unit is recognized for
certifications including Comprehensive Stroke and Trauma Center
designations. Interested applicants should bring skills in
prioritizing care and multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
Navy scrubs (tops and bottoms) are the required uniform for the
