RN license - ACLS - BLS - ICU experience Description: This is a
critical care position in an intensive care unit. The unit has a
total of 31 beds. Patient ratios vary between 2:1 and may go to 1:1
or 3:1 depending on acuity and staffing. A unit secretary is
available during day shifts. Occasionally, a nurse extern will work
as a tech in the unit. Equipment utilized includes ventilators,
EVDs, CRRT, SLED, and EV 1000. Documentation is performed using a
specific system. Minimum weekend requirement is four weekend shifts
per schedule. Schedules are made in four-week increments with some
self-scheduling opportunities. The manager will adjust shifts to
balance staffing as needed. Contract labor is the first to float to
other units if necessary. Patient experience focuses on providing
attentive and compassionate care to patients and their families.
Advanced skills required include the insertion of central lines,
arterial lines, lumbar punctures, chest tube insertions, and EVD
insertions. The required dress code is navy scrubs, both tops and
bottoms. Unit-specific policies and guidelines are available.
