Registered Nurse (RN) is accountable for the care of a group of
patients. The RN focuses on safe, effective patient and
family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes.
The RN is responsible for assisting in maintaining a financially
stable unit and promoting personal development with an emphasis on
evidence-based practice and education. The RN supervises licensed
and non-licensed staff members. The RN has the responsibility to
assess, develop, implement, and evaluate the plan of care. The RN
focuses on patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction.
The RN applies educational and professional experiences in the
delivery of quality care and mentoring or precepting staff. Key
responsibilities include performing assessments and reassessments
according to policy and procedure or as warranted by patient
condition. The RN demonstrates the ability to make sound
independent decisions. The RN initiates, prioritizes, and
implements the plan of care, reviewing and revising it as
indicated. Collaboration with patients, families, and
interdisciplinary services is essential. The RN utilizes resources
appropriately to support the needs of the organization and
patients. The RN monitors and documents responses to clinical
interventions. Education specific to patient and family needs is
facilitated and evaluated. The RN delegates tasks to licensed and
non-licensed personnel and functions as a mentor or preceptor. The
RN encourages teamwork and identifies opportunities for improvement
while communicating appropriately. Participation in quality,
safety, and service process improvement efforts and compliance with
