Our new Bowling Green plant will focus on meeting the growing demand for Wright - and Jimmy Dean - brands. -SUMMARY:To plan, schedule, and control the activities involved in the manufacturing of meat products to insure that work schedules are met, while maintaining cost efficiency and product quality. To direct and supervise the cleaning of the plant production equipment and facility to meet food safety requirements obligated by federal, state, local regulations, and by DFA to meet customer quality and safety standards. To develop and maintain an effective department through selection, development, and motivation of all department personnel. To ensure employees follow Company policies and procedures. To ensure sanitation quality and department efficiencies are maintained at, or above, standard. To support the commitment and continual improvement to Food Safety and Quality programs. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plans, and schedules, all meat processing operations to meet pledged delivery dates through optimum utilization of facilities as directed by production schedule. Attends the daily production meeting of superintendents, and scheduling personnel, to obtain necessary information for following production day schedule.
  • Coordinates the activities of supervisors to assure the efficient production and quality of products within anticipated costs and production schedules
  • Includes coordination of duties related to pre-op, sanitizer checks, sanitizing and cleaning equipment, recordkeeping, bio-trace swabs and support for all production occurring on third shift.
  • Position requires understanding and compliance leadership in areas of HACCP and SSOP.
  • Informs supervisors of production schedule changes, changes in product specifications, and labor variances. Directs their activities so that appropriate changes are enacted and production goals are met.
  • Maintains awareness through communication with production supervisors of the status of schedules and takes direct action when needed to resolve and/or prevent any delays. Approves all revisions of manufacturing department schedules
  • Directs supervisors to resolve production, as well as employee, complaints and problems. -
  • Ensures compliance with safety rules and regulations. -
  • Maintains work area in a safe and sanitary manner. -
  • Train and document all sanitation workers for the safe operation and disassembly of equipment.
  • Work closely with management, and chemical suppliers, on chemical and process changes to improve sanitation results and reduce costs.
  • Assures compliance of Team Members to all state and federal regulations.
  • Develops, and implements, new job methods and procedures in meat processing coordinating efforts with Research & Development.
  • Establishes, and maintains, departmental systems and procedures in accordance with established specifications.
  • Schedules and directs machinery maintenance for the department assigned; advises and requisitions spare parts, machinery and tools needed.
  • Directs scheduling personnel to maintain inventory levels as required by department production schedule; analyzes department inventory and orders supplies to meet production and quality standards.
  • Provides management daily reports in regards to production, labor and work environment. -
  • Makes recommendations, develops new manufacturing plans, and implements accordingly in cases of unsatisfactory results to achieve improved efficiency and effectiveness.
  • In accordance with forecast develop annual budgets and goals to superior for approval.
  • Develops, and maintains, solid Performance Management and Performance Team concepts. Practices to fulfill the organization's participative management philosophy. -
  • Assures that appropriate formal management programs are instituted and followed through in areas of responsibility.
  • Take appropriate action to ensure the integrity of the SQF System. Report any issues to appropriate facility management.REQUIREMENTS:
    • EDUCATION: A High School diploma or equivilent required; a Bachelors Degree in Business or Meat Science is a plus.
    • EXPERIENCE: 5 years operations experience in line production. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of management techniques used in a manufacturing environment. -
    • REQUIREMENTS: Supervisory experience required. Knowledge of meat processing and production is beneficial. Requires independent judgment, with analytical skills in formulating decisions concerning different problems with similar solutions. Works within general guidelines and policies of the Production department. Knowledge of OSHA, USDA, and HAACP regulations. HACCP certification preferred.
    • COMPUTER SKILLS: Standard computer skills.
    • COMMMUNICATION SKILLS: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be capable of communicating well both verbally and in writing with all levels of Team Members from hourly to upper management as well as government officials.
    • ADDITIONAL SKILLS: Leader, problem solver, team player. Able to read and interpret documents such as MSDS Safety rules and procedure manuals. Able to compute rate ratio, and percent when preparing cleaning chemicals.
