Role Overview

Reporting to the Vice President & General Manager, you will lead, develop, and oversee team operations in support of the Sales department by driving team recruitment performance. You'll ensure execution on production targets, and develop and implement strategic initiatives in alignment and partnership with HSG and AMN leadership. These efforts ultimately will lead to strong team performance, high fill rates, increasing market share, and increasing revenue and profit through expense management and growth.

You'll oversee the temporary recruiting team in our rapid and strike response model, which includes a Recruitment Manager. Your key objectives will include:

  • Developing and implementing processes to facilitate very quick scale-up in response to new business, including sourcing and training.
  • Designing and document performance management cycles, including establishing and monitoring KPIs.
  • Set expectations for temp recruiters, coach them and hold them accountable to expectations, leveraging incentives other motivators.
  • Ensure we have the training curriculum and resources to support this function.
  • Use performance KPIs and other data in forecasting business.
  • Help your team develop sales skills to influence and motivate candidates.

Role Specifics

As Senior Director, Recruiting Operations, you will:

  • Formulate, propose and execute on ideas and solutions to overcome people, resource, and competitive obstacles in order to achieve financial budget/plan goals and leverage divisional and corporate strategic initiatives.

  • Play a leadership role in assessing, improving and implementing business processes to take advantage of market opportunities.
  • Contribute to strategic initiatives, providing subject matter expertise, relying upon depth of knowledge, system/process.
  • Facilitate team meetings to cascade strategic updates, process changes and promote skill development.
  • Analyze critical indicators and reports on an ongoing basis to strategize and communicate progress towards weekly/monthly/yearly goals and metrics.
  • Continuously evaluate team effectiveness in sourcing and recruitment practices by inspecting processes and quality, and quantifying conversion and return on investment in order to determine viability.
  • Assess department training needs and performance data in order to develop and implement results-based training curricula that addresses performance gaps.
  • Oversee training conducted by Recruitment Managers using a train-the-trainer approach to model best practices through observation and coaching in order to improve training and delivery.
  • Ensure team members are held accountable for meeting production expectations and skills growth through a consistent performance management cycle in order to build demonstrable confidence and skill.
  • Track and report industry trends to achieve competitive edge in marketplace, by obtaining competitive intelligence (e.g. market share information) and industry practices for strategic implementation.
  • Manage costs and resources according to monthly and quarterly budget and financial outcomes. Exercise a cost-containment approach to increase efficiency and impact gross profit.
  • Develop and maintain a strong team dynamic by promoting a culture of winning, celebrating achievement, and driving success.
  • Manage division headcount through ongoing performance evaluations (PSP process) according to competency and productivity standards in order to maximize staff production with least expenses.
  • Interview internal and external candidates for hiring.
  • Partner with team members to discuss career interests and development needs, leveraging the individual development plant (IDP) process in order to agree upon action steps that support personal, professional and business growth.
  • Develop and implement new programs to broaden and diversify candidate database through high-production recruitment activity and consistent follow-up.
  • Sponsor large initiatives within Travel Nurse Recruitment department.

The Ideal Candidate

To be a good fit for the Senior Director, Recruiting Operations opportunity, you will have:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent; a bachelor's degree is preferred.

  • 4+ years of management experience.
  • 3 to 5 years of sales experience in the service industry and/or recruiting experience.
  • A demonstrated ability to provide strong leadership in environments characterized by fluctuations between intense, fast-paced work and slower periods.
  • The ability to lead large teams.
  • Experience developing and implementing processes, including:
    • Proven change management skills.
    • A track record of success in driving measurable improvements.
  • Strategic thinking as well as attention to detail and willingness to roll up your sleeves to achieve goals.
  • The ability to multitask and manage competing and constantly-changing priorities.
  • The ability to handle multiple urgent requests from senior leaders and other stakeholders.


Success Factors

This role isn't for everybody. Essentially you need to find temp recruiters and get them up to snuff very, very fast. You'll need to be comfortable in a role that involves periods of high-intensity work against aggressive deadlines, followed by just enough down-time to catch your breath before the high intensity period starts again.

In addition, this role is visible at high levels in HSG and AMN. That's definitely an opportunity, but it also means you'll be under scrutiny most of the time. You'll also get requests from different people, and you'll need to be able manage their expectations and establish priorities. We're looking for a professional who can hit the ground running and is highly motivated to move the needle
