HUMAN RESOURCE COORDINATOR


OBJECTIVES:

  • Assist with the day-to-day operation of the Human Resource department. Provide administrative support to the Manager of Human Resources in a wide variety of HR functions.
  • Assist Supervisors and Managers by providing support in the area of performance and compensation.
  • Be respectful of individual privacy and the sensitive nature of the information being handled.



REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

Reports to: Manager of Human Resources



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Participates in compensation plan administration, including annual review and update of the wage and salary program.
  • Administers the cooperative performance appraisal program ensuring that supervisory personnel are adequately trained and effective in employee development.
  • Calculates and verifies merit performance pay increases according to the Warren RECC compensation plan.
  • Keeps Payroll Specialist up to date on all payroll changes as they relate to performance appraisals and job promotions or transfers.
  • Ensures all Warren RECC personnel policies and procedures are are current as they relate to any regulations or laws.
  • Works with employees to ensure smooth transition when employees are terminating or retiring.
  • Administers NRECA retirement benefit plans. Keeps current on all programs and policies.
  • Assists employees with questions concerning benefit plans.
  • Assists in the development of job descriptions and specifications for all positions for use in recruiting, hiring, transferring, and promoting personnel.
  • Assists as needed in the screening and interviewing of all job applicants and conducting reference checks on applicants considered for employment.
  • Assists with the administration of Warren RECC's subsidiary wage and benefit plans.
  • Acts as a liaison between employees and management to resolve personnel issues.
  • Maintains a thorough knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations in order to apply them appropriately.
  • Maintains and keeps current employee policy and procedures manual. Ensures updated policies and procedures are incorporated in manual and on Intranet.
  • Works according to safety rules and policies adopted by Warren RECC, is responsible for own safety, and reports all accidents to supervisor.
  • Complies with traffic laws, regulations, and safe practices while operating any company vehicle.
  • Such other duties as may be assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

POSITION: Human Resource Coordinator

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelors degree in Human Resources or other business related field with 15 years work experience in Human Resources required.

KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledge of employment and benefit laws, as well as general human resource concepts.
  • Understanding of insurance regulations, plan designs, and administration.
  • Experience with compensation plan administration.
  • Experience with retirement plan administration.
  • Proficiencey in Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook.
  • Willing to attend training courses and seminars to stay up-to-date on changing programs.
  • Maintains a thorough knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations

ABILITIES AND SKILLS

  • Excellent organizational skills to handle multiple priorities.
  • Ability to recognize employment related issues and/or concerns.
  • Capable of maintaining complete and accurate records, reports, and files for the efficient and legal administration of personnel-related functions.
  • Excellent communicator (oral and written).
  • Must be able to work effectively on a daily basis with a variety of individuals.
  • Must be able to exercise discretion and use sound judgement in dealing with people and confidential information.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Public speaking ability.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Normal office conditions. Some overnight travel is required to attend meetings, seminars, and training sessions.

OTHER

Must have a valid driver's license.
