Job Summary:

  • Your role manages the 5th floor Orthopedics, Oncology and Pediatrics.
  • Your role assists the Director of Medical Surgical with department activities to assure a coordinated effort in fulfilling department responsibilities and efficiencies.
  • Your role works cohesively with the Director to develop standards and procedures for providing and improving quality patient care.
  • Your role must promote good public relations for the department and TriStar Greenview Regional Hospital while maintaining patient/customer confidentiality and satisfaction.
  • Your role monitors, evaluates and modifies staffing patterns in order to properly utilize assigned staff to provide patient care in assigned areas; prepares and modifies work schedules as needed to ensure adequate coverage of all shifts.
  • Your role provides a safe environment for patients, visitors and employees through identifying/correcting/reporting health and safety hazards.

Qualifications

  • Current Registered Nurse licensure by Kentucky Board of Nursing or approved compact state. BSN preferred. Specialty certification preferred.
    1. If hired without Bachelors degree, encouraged to be actively pursuing degree
    2. Specialty certification within area of expertise within 3 years of role acceptance preferred
  • BLS certification required.
  • New employees have up to 90 days from date of hire to obtain BLS for healthcare providers.
  • ACLS and PALS required.
  • New employees have up to 6 months from the date of hire to obtain ACLS certification. Employees transferring from a position that did not require ACLS have up to 6 months from date of transfer to obtain ACLS. New RN graduates have up to 12 months from date of hire or transfer to RNA/RN position to obtain ACLS certification.
  • New employees have up to 6 months from the date of hire to obtain PALS certification. Employees transferring from a position that did not require PALS have up to 6 months from date of transfer to obtain.
  • Five years orthopedic nursing care experience preferred.
  • Three to five years of charge RN experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking skills.
